expensive expensive. went out on an all expense paid shopping trip with dad today, got a haircut done and a wind breaker from zara. quite nice quite nice, had to get an L instead of an M since it was all out of stock, would've been much nicer if it was fitted but then had to take layering of inner clothing to consider so its all good.

shitty week before this, shitty week the next, and a shittier week the week after next.

had some stupid jungle trekking thing, and i fell into a murky stream that was neck deep T___T there was a log across it as a bridge or some sort, wanted to jump on it then jump over to the other bank, but alas, slipped on the log, landed on the slope of the stream and slid back into it and doooomped into it. haha. was cursing and swearing man.
the previous week, we had to trek through a black methane-stinky swamp that was up til knee deep in black murky rotting water. nice.

also, outfield biking. nearly died/fell a couple of times, thanks to me and fatfat's biking skills(or lack of..) no joke trying to pillion him man haha. was shaking like shit when we rode down the rocky downslope, had to use all my strength to keep us stable ha. then when we exited from the training area to the main road, i forgot to check the oncoming traffic before turning out, saw the oncoming car while halfway through that lane, then accelerated to evade it.. ha.
then misjudged the turning speed required when pillioning, hence approached the sharp turn too fast, really cut the corner at high speed man, tilted the bike til super low to the floor and managed to clear the turn without hitting the kerb. haha. that was quite a close shave. of course, he did his fair share of nearly killing me so its all good and fair.

been seriously physically exhausting. UWA interview next saturday, i wonder how.

Life.

Jul. 13th, 2008 | 12:33 pm

pretty much meh at the moment, been over-sleeping too much to go out. just as well, will be able to save money. ha. hokkaido fair at isetan tampines was retarded, stupid, and a waste of money and time. sometimes, the intelligence of singaporeans seems to be really lacking. one father was screaming at his son not to follow him.. i wonder how he'll feel. he looked pretty sad though.

went to gym yesterday, saw many many beef steaks there. the number seems to have increased when all the new free barbells came in. lol. shit, must've looked like a total misfit there lifting 1.5kg versus their 150kg.. haha.

in other matters, got a new toy out of the blue. the bonus must be here already, which probably explains the sudden generosity. lousy market's a good chance to start entering though. but the diamond touch is really a little bit too complicated for me. gps, youtube, internet, wtf? troublesome shat. i'll never be able to fully utilize it man..

edit:

went out for dinner with bro and dad  at zen dining on sunday. still good still good.  saw the same gay guy we spotted when we went there before, the one with hair spiked in a towering fin... hahaha.  dad was so amused he wanted to take note of the time to buy 4d. haha. jokes.

its such a trouble getting my own certificate of no criminal convictions.. wth. need to bring a letter from the school, passport, ic, photo, fingerprints? wtf. and i went there with like absolutely nothing. to think that the civil service prides itself on like being paperless, wireless, efficient.. getting my own record will take 2 weeks and 50$. and im a freaking citizen, such services should be free no? and with everything turning biometric, myself and my finger should be more than sufficient. whats the point of making everything electronic and high tech if all you're going to do is turn a physical paper chase into an electronic one. lol. thumb print for the biometric scan? guess which finger i'll be putting.

life is boring. hopefully, we can have a next sentosa outing soon. fat fat lost his temper some time ago, which made me think.. that he's really such a wonderful guy. haha. and he probably values all of us the most. interesting. because i for one take my friends for granted, and am under no illusion that im not being taken for granted as well.. all human relations are after all for self benefit. (hmm. or maybe mutual benefit) see it in rose coloured idealistic shades if you will, but cynicism is the blinding truth. maybe the shades will save our sanity.

life, its fucking boring. i just wasted the entire day yesterday. overslept for gym and shopping today as well. oh wells, not going out is good, will be able to cut spending and keep the wallet in the black for a bit. though i do want to re-visit the hokkaido festival and grab some hotatepachis.. as well as cheap otoros :P

not to mention slim cut berms, which i haven't been able to find somehow.

read someone's archives.. and i wonder what sort of image i'll portray if someone read mine now. haha. i probably won't have a good impression of me.

friends have returned, and one has even left before saying hi wtf =P tsk tsk tsk. this is badness.

was quite worried when i was in camp cuz my dear dog got into a motobike accident.. dad didn't close the gate, dog ran out, bro chased him, ran all the way to the main road and got rammed by a motorbike and flew to the road divider.. luckily he managed to escape with just a tire track mark on his fur, abrasions and a limp..

just tried to feed him his medicine and was really very amusing. bloody dog's damn smart, know when we're trying to feed him the medicine.. managed to catch him and i was tasked to squirt the medicine down his throat.. but i aimed wrongly(or rather he struggled) and i squirted him in his nose instead hahahaha. really very funny.

my dog, is really very very smart.

anyway tomorrow sucks because i have cos duty on a saturday and i have to wake up at 530am(early!!!) and take public transport there, both of which i hate to the core.

bag crazy..

Jun. 13th, 2008 | 11:07 am
mood: bitchy bitchy

hurhur. reached new levels of poverty with the purchase of a bag from projectshop. well, its water resistant and its a different colour from the ted baker one so its all good. variety is always good. hopefully, i won't end up as a bag whore.. i'm always very tempted to get new bags.

was fucking pissed when i booked in on monday the week before because my cupboard got attacked by rats. fucking bastards, it ate my small bottle of milk which i shouldn't have kept inside.. spilled it all over the middle section of my cupboard, which contained two pairs of spectacles, body wash toothbrushe and other stuff. threw the whole lot away because it was really seriously gross. the milk curdled, and the stench was crazy. i already dislike smelly cheese, but that smell could have turned me off every milk product for good. worse thing was, there were even small maggots! my god. that was the killer. and hence, bitch's present had to go too. =( cleaned up my cupboard for a good hour or so, scraped every single shit off, even the paint from the cupboard. ha. then scrubbed it all over again. still, i'm never going to use it again. the smell and the image of maggots all over, is enough to turn me off putting anything besides field equipment inside.

and hence, am poorer because i bought a new cupboard. lol. as well as restocked on sanitary supplies, speaking of which, groceries are freaking expensive. bombed 50 bucks at NTUC despite picking out all the stuff on offer.. =(

in other matters, will be flying off to malaysia, redang for a beach holiday with the entire lam family. hopefully it'll be fun. though i missed out on a laser quest-like capture the flag challenge using TES equipment that my battalion organized.. was looking forward to taking part, but our match on thursday got postponed to today instead. oh wells. haha. was all set to be the platoon sniper =)

i do hope we win. first time seeing all the troopers so pumped up for action. would definitely be super chaotic. the 5 day off is of course, a very nice reward if we do win. ^___^

if i fly back on sunday i think i'll go make a pair of new specs. need one for outfield.

in other matters, got called up for Monash interviews on the 26th. need some help here lol. and divine intervention too.

hello brain

May. 8th, 2008 | 03:20 pm

long time no see you in action. had a really good workout today thanks to the isat test..dammit, forogt some APGP which probably would have saved me loads of time. but mainly was the logical rational thinking and reasoning  thing that i've been doing for all the tests so far.
but still, 100 questions in 3 hours or 1 question in 1min+ was quite tough considering the twists and turns my brain had to do.

tried wasabi tei which had some good publicity for being value for money and fresh.. but really, its not that cheap, neither is it that fresh. and though the serving sizes of sashimi were really thick and big cuts but thats not the point of sashimi. which should be well cut, well presented and of quality rather than quantity. granted, the freshness was okay, better than chain restaurants i guess, but the cutting and presentation was just haphazard. was busy trying to separate random bits of kelp from my fish which became rather irritating after a while. at 17 dollars(inclusive of 2$ charge) for a sashimi set that came with 3 slices of salmon, 3 swordfish, 2 seabream.. it really was just not worth it. and only the salmon and swordfish were thick, the seabream was like shabushabu =P yeah so thats another place thats all hype and no quality. what a bummer. once again, the tastebuds of the uninitiated are put into question.

hello world.

May. 4th, 2008 | 12:21 pm
music: Yiruma - Love Me

the past week has been rather slack indeed. dentistry interview was interesting, but still, hopes aren't that high. lol the only good impression i gave was the initial one sigh. but rofl they were interested enough for her to ask "did you go for grooming lessons?" which was really quite hilarious. what can i say, i am just too good.

i've been losing alot of weight recently(2kg! beat that lulu!) due to too much sleeping. hah. i'll usually oversleep so i don't get breakfast, then after roll calll i'll go back up to bunk to sleep again.. and sleep past lunch so i'll miss lunch too. so in the end, all i eat is one meal a day due to sleeping =P so if you want to lose weight i highly suggest sleeping as an alternative. though it can give you dark eye rings.no idea why too.

spent quite alot yesterday. finally got my jeans from buffalo. is a good good buy! soft fabric, nice detailing, and even though its slim cut its easy fit so its very comfortable and doesnt make you look like a ham. lol. and is majorly discounted too, from 208 to 150. so that was a yay. gathering attendance yesterday was pretty good. attendance was 8 out of 9 with the notable exception being bai. oh wells. met at 3, waited til around 7 before full attendance. then proceeded to lan til we got brain dead at 10plus. supped abit, and then it was home. tiring stuff. oh yeah, bumped into benny along the way. actually, saw his friend first. she was quite pretty lol. sneaky benny.

please go visit www.myspace.com/yiruma for very simple yet emotive piano music. just listen for a bit before you sleep =P

.. busy.

Apr. 18th, 2008 | 08:50 pm

Jem is a busy man.

taiwan porridge supper with the army platoon mates and then drinking before some of them fly off to india. the drinking was.. disturbing to say the least. speaks much of yourself if your self worth is determined by challenging others. both the challenger and challenged alike. he was so roaring drunk he couldn't even stand up straight. and was singing loudly, saying weird stuff like a goner. oh wells. the after drinking entertainment was quite disturbing too. i've no interests in dicks thank you.

took thursday off and then got an mc for friday. everyone's falling sick =X baskit. went for some orientation concert at ngee ann poly with bitch, but we didn't know it was an orientation thing before that so it was kinda weird. saw all the little kids around and thought how old i was. oh noes. saw seowting after like 3 years but she looked so different i wouldn't be able to recognize her if i saw her on the streets. she was way prettier back then though. i think makeup kills. and haircuts too.

anyone with advice for dentistry interviews? i'm trying my best to uh, search for some inspiration. not like there's much hope of that though, the faculty's so tiny.

1. Once again, i'm ignored by the eminent university of singapore.

2. It really pisses me off to think that its one-sided. I'm sure giving is part and parcel, but to be always on the giving side. That really pissed me off quite alot last night. I seem to make myself too freely available. Don't treat me like a whore thanks.

irritants aside, didn't manage to strike 4d. HAHA. wtf. actually bought 4D and Toto with the army guys for fun, looking for a little extra cash to supplement the overseas education fund here..
That was on thursday when we trooped down to pearl centre for some chow. Had some teochew porridge which was mm comfort food. then trooped down to liquids cafe for some liver cancer supplements. the service was good, with the waiter being very knowledgeable about his drinks. very prompt and attentive service too, like automatically opening the next bottle for us when we were done..

had to down extra fluids that night due to the immense blood loss suffered at the hands of cy during IV drip lesson. he didn't cover the hole with gauze before pulling the needle out, which resulted in blood spurting out from the vein.. and i was wondering why the saline solution was dripping all over my arm. raised my hand to look at my arm to find it totally covered with blood. haha. from the wrist all the way to the elbow. severe blood loss man.
granted, i returned the favour to him later when i left the needle in him for a rather long time while trying to search for the vein.. =P

on activities of the more recreational sort, met up with the buds at kel n jx's house for tennis and swimming.. the latter  was more glorified soaking than exercise. hah. within the first 5 minutes of tennis though, we lost 3 balls to the fence in typical baseball style.. oops. hah. i think the laughter provided more exercise though heh. dinner afterwards at anchor point where i had subway. which was really crusty and good. then tv at jx's house and was driven home in his mercs. so is good to have friends who drive. the mrt ride would have been a killer 1 hour long..

Valentino!

Apr. 6th, 2008 | 10:17 pm
mood: cheerful cheerful

was really really good. highly recommend this place if you're looking for a nice homey italian fare with great service, great food and (supposedly)great wine.
didn't manage to confirm the latter though, since they were a little bit expensive. the house bottle was cheaper at 50.
the service was great with the wait staff being very very happy and knowledgeable aboutt the daily specials. snagged all 4 of them which were tasted damn good. we had a beef carpaccio with rucola cheese, a pinenut caramelisedonion arugala topped with rucola cheese salad, cheese wrapped in parma ham and pan fried, and calamari.  the appetizers were so good, when i ate the parma ham i couldn't stop smiling. that, was really happiness in a mouth. =P all the appetisers were really really good. great ingredients with very simple preparation to bring out the best.
for the pastas, i had the toranelli all granchio which was a squid ink spaghetti with crab meat sauce.. the first bite was like heaven, but it proved too much to eat so the later half was quite a chore =P come to think of it, 2 pastas to share among 4 people would have been a better idea.
the bisteka(steak) was really well done too. the waiter said that it was an australian steak, around 500-600g for half portions, 900-1k for the full one, grilled simply with salt and pepper. very juicy, very nice. and indeed it was! done a medium rare with nicely seared outsides, it was a really well executed steak.
by then we were too full to consider dessert. in retrospect, valentino's great for their appetisers and pastas. ordering their daily specials and the toranelli all granchio will definitely not disappoint. but do share the pastas so that you'll have room for others. especially the panna cotta which my bro raves about.

dinner came to around 90pax, but we were filled to the brim and we ordered wine. without some excesses, dinner can probably be done at a very affordable 60. just remember to share the pastas.
and no pics were taken, when the food arrived, we just ate it all up and only remembered the camera half way through. and this happened for -all- the course. oh wells.

now to drag mom back for visit number 2 XD
the king prawn pasta in pink sauce calls for me.

WISHLIST *shameless begging*

Mar. 23rd, 2008 | 01:13 pm
mood: bouncy bouncy
music: Muse - Unintended

1. Piano score for Butterflies and Hurricanes! Matt Bellamy is awesome.
2. Like, a place in uni for once? some recognition of my existence please.

okay i'll keep my begging to like, two.

heh. watching Proposal Daisakusen now which is nice heh. Can really relate to the "I wish i could turn back time" feeling man o_O;;

Operation Catch the Mat Terrorist is really ridiculous. Spent my Thursday, Good Friday and (by right) Sunday to find the dickhead. My OP is in a very convenient location.. A good 10min bashing through thick and dense vegetation and through mud pools(wet socks and boots) to the side of the reservoir with a make shift tent(compared to the actual bigbig tentages beside roads the rest have) and a rubber dingy.

yeah. a dingy. My Observation Post's in the middle of the reservoir. wtf.  So yeah, i'll be spending alot of time floating in the middle of the reservoir looking around in case an idiot decides to swim through it instead of walking.
At least, its really quite beautiful and calm at night. With the bright bright moon and the stars above you.. on the tranquil waters.. anyone wanna swap with me? haha.  very hot sun in the day and fuckloads of swarms of mosquitoes and spiders and monitor lizards, reptiles and snakes included. also included: half flooded dingy, treacherous entry into dingy and lack of handphone reception. batteries not included.

am finally finished watching the DVD of Muse's HAARP tour at Wembley which is freaking awesome. I am in awe. heh. which of course, leads to me attempting to emulate Matt's piano. now if only someone will help me fulfil wish number 1...

Unintended's a very haunting song. So is Hoodoo, in a rock kind of way though. I foresee pounding headaches for non-rock inclined people who watch the concert vid..
